Tapped the Connect button on the Hotspot VPN app’s home screen, the app shows as if it is connected yet your device has no active VPN connection (You can tell your device is connected to a VPN by the ‘VPN’ title in it’s status bar)? Well.. you just got yourself a very rare bug experienced only by very few. Luckily it is very easy to troubleshoot.
All you have to do is close the app and reboot your device:
- On iPhone X / XS – press and hold the lock button and one of the volume buttons (at the same time) on the sides of your device, then slide the Slide to power off. Wait until the phone is shut down, then press and hold the lock button again to restart it.
- On iPhone SE/ 5/ 5S/ 6/ 6S/ 7/ 7S/ 8 – press and hold the lock button and the home button (at the same time) on your device, then slide the Slide to power off. Wait until the phone is shut down, then press and hold the lock button again to restart it.
Now, once your device is back up – open the Hotspot VPN app. Notice that now whenever you connect using the app, it will add a small ‘VPN’ title on your device’s status bar (on iPhone X/ XS – it will appear at the top of yourControl Center).
